At home or something like that.

It's done! I moved into my new appartment yesterday. I'm so glad my roommate helped me getting all my stuff upstairs. We were totally exhausted after that but I don't want to think about what it would have been if I was on my own..
Anyway, I brought all my stuff into my room and even if there is no furniture really it looks pretty nice. The walls definately need some color though, everything is white. And the floor isn't very nice so I need an idea for that, too. And then, when I have money, I need a bed, a wardrobe and some shelfs and stuff. It will be all very nice I think!
I can use my neighbor's internet connection as long as we don't have our own, that's so nice, I just knocked on their door earlier, gave them 5 Euro and asked if I can use it and it was no problem. One of them just moved in today and invited me over for a beer, so I sat there for a while and just had a little chat. It was nice, I met some of the people who live there and some friends of the new guy. It's definately very easy to meet people here, that's good. My roommates seem to be nice, too. One of them is a student and she goes out a lot and spends a lot of time in her room during the day but she's nice. And the other one goes to school and to work and is nice too. I think everything will be fine here for the next few months and that's good. Work starts on Friday and is only 5 minutes away, I can just walk there, that's perfect!
That's it so far, I'm very tired, it's all so new and exciting and all.

just a short notice

Just to let you know, everything went well so far. I'm in Cologne right now, sitting at a computer in an internet cafe waiting for my roommate to come home from school so I can get into the appartment. I wanted to show you pictures of my packed car but I couln't find my camera in that mess. I can just tell you, nearly my whole life was in that car (still is!), isn't that sad? Anyway, went to the doctor this morning, he said there's no problem with me starting to work on Friday as long as my blood is okay (should be...). And now I have my contract and am soooo excited to move into my new flat and start working and everything.
Yesterday I went to visit Jana on my way to Cologne and spent the night there. It was so nice to see her again. It's already a month since we're back from Ireland. So weird still. But nice to have her here, not too far away. She's moving, too, on Saturday.
Well, that's it for the moment, I'll write again when I have internet at my flat.

There's the silver lining...

Imagine, I got a room! The one I wanted! When I came back from Cologne I was hoping for two rooms and one immediately cancelled. The other one, I didn't really see a chance because there were so many people applying for it but I got it. It's so cool! One of the girls living there is really nice, I met her Saturday. And the other one just came home before I left but she seems to be nice, too. The room itself is pretty small but there's a big living area which is pretty unusual but very nice. So now I'm just waiting to drive up there again to bring my stuff and make plans and all.
My car is back as well. And it wasn't as bad as I expected first so that's okay now.
I was in a really bad mood yesterday because everything seemed to be messed up but today it really looks a bit brighter and there are only a few more things to organize and then I can move and start the next part of my life. So looking forward to it...

Just can't sleep...

Well, it's pretty late and I still can't sleep. Too many thoughts, too many things going on. Yesterday (well, or the day before... I'm talking about Friday) I got up pretty early and drove to Cologne. I wanted to look at some rooms. So I went to see two on Friday, spent the night at a friend's place who lives close to Cologne (thank you soooo much!) and went on to see another four today. It was crazy, so many different people, so many different places in Cologne. I had two favourites, one already wrote me an e-mail to say she found someone else, the other one I'm still waiting for. Keep your fingers crossed! That room is the most expensive one but it's in a good part of the city and very close to my work so it would be ideal. But if it doesn't work I'm not too sure what to do. I'll probably take the room that is a bit out of the city but still close to my work. The girl who's living there doesn't really seem to care, apparently she works a lot and just wants to share the flat because of the money. I could just move in with her for the first couple of months and then find something else.
I came back home at around half 8 and since that I want to get to sleep. First I was watching TV but at 11 I went to bed. I couldn't fall asleep so I got back up. At 1.30 I tried it again but still couldn't fall asleep. Then my brother called me and asked me if I can collect him from a fair. I did but then my car died on the way back home. My Mom collected us in the end and I had to leave my car there. I hope everything's fine because I don't have money to fix anything...
Anyway, I'll try to go to sleep now again, it's about time that I finally find some rest.

A lot going on

There's really a lot happening at the moment. I drove to Cologne on Sunday afternoon after a really nice weekend. Thursday I went to visit Sarah and we had a nice chatty evening. Friday I went to see the students of my school who where celebrating their exams. It was okay, but I didn't really know anyone there so I was a bit bored. Saturday I went to a barbeque party at Nicole's and it was very good. I haven't seen her in ages and we really had a nice evening. Sunday morning we had a nice breakfast at Lisa's because it was her birthday. And after that I got my stuff, jumped into the car and was on the way to Cologne. I had a huge traffic jam and very bad weather on my way there so it took me about five hours to get there. Then I saw the room I got there and it was terrible. But anyway, I only needed to sleep...
In the morning I got up and went to the ward and worked there. It was good. The people were pretty relaxed and there's enough staff there so you have a bit of time for the patients. That's all really new for me, at the old hospital we had to do everything but in that hospital there is a girl organizing everything, like, when patients have to go to a different part of the hospital or when they're going home. AND there are people who give the patients their food and even help them with eating. That is really new to me, you really have a lot of time for the patients.
Well, I liked it there and apparently they liked me, too, because when I came to my interview appointment it took about three minutes and then I was offered a job. I can start at October 1st. The contract will be open-ended and the conditions are standard. But there will be a new neuro ward opening soon and I might have the chance to go there. I'll see.
Big problem now is that I can't get a room in the staff accomodation, they are all full in October. I'm now looking for a shared flat or something but as university starts as well now that is pretty hard. I don't have any money saved so everything is a bit complicated right now. Well, I hope I'll find something anyway, I'll keep you informed.

Life goes on

I didn't think so at first and I still have sad moments when all I want to do is go back to Cork and do whatever but it's getting better. I have an interview at the University Hospital in Cologne on Monday, I get my car back tomorrow and I have my appointment at the work agency next Tuesday. That's for the money I get and for the insurance I need for the time I'm unemployed. At first I felt bad going there and everything because it just doesn't feel right but now I think, I really want to find a job and I will, so I can use these services just for a couple of weeks.
I didn't have the chance to do anything creative so far because I was reading my old school books to get into the subject of neurology again, where I have the interview next week. And I finally finished "Pride and Prejudice" and really liked it.
I have some sleeping problems at the moment, I don't know where they come from but during the last nights i barely got any sleep. Last night and the night before I lay awake until after 3am. Of course, there's a lot going on in my life at the moment but I can't imagine that this is the only reason. Any ideas?
